This May, let us remember love

There comes a time for every hobbyist when he thinks "Why am I still doing this?". Anime watching is no different. I'm sure everyone reading this has gone through that phase where anime watching seemed drab and its continuance doubtful. This may be due to a bad season or just watching a string of terrible anime or just not being able to get into anime as a whole all of a sudden. But there's one thing that always revives that childlike pleasure - going to the attic and opening your "memory box". In anime terms, rewatching the favorites.

Therefore, I propose this aniblogging project. Next month, all of us pick up our favorite anime and rewatch them. You don't need to rewatch the entire series (although that's what I'm going to be doing!) just the parts that had you sold. Go back and relive those moments that made us fall in love with the characters. Like returning to your parents' house after a long time, you'll be welcomed back with open arms and you are reminded of what makes you happy. Even if you are enjoying the hell out of the anime you're currently watching, looking back at the shows that left a void in our heart can feel truly special. After completing my rewatch of Mushishi recently, I felt like I had just gone through a magical experience, remembering my old self watching it huddled up in my bed at 1AM in the night. There truly is nothing like remembering love and trying to re-examine the popping of your anime virginity.

If you're reading this, then you're an aniblogger yourself (no "just readers" here in this tiny blog). So, if you're interested in participating in this project, here's how it's going to work:
  • Rewatch your favorite anime. You can watch one, you can watch a few or you can gobble 'em all, doesn't matter. These anime don't necessarily have to be your highest rated anime - just anime that you truly love. For example, despite rating Death Note and Geass a 9, I still consider them favorites over Tsumiki no Ie, which I rated the same. It's all about what you could immerse yourself with on a personal level; something that was a very important anime in your fandom.
  • Each Sunday, blog about it. That's four posts in total. Now, what you do with these 4 posts is entirely up to you. You can make all the posts about one series or one post per series or whatever floats your boat. Get creative!
  • Now, this is the part I want to emphasize on the most: Please do not review the anime. Don't give us a critique of the show, that's not what this project is about. It's about remembering love.  There's no rigid format to be followed - just tell us why you loved the anime. You can write about the parts that had you spellbound the most; why you love this anime so much. This can be something touching such as writing about how 5cm/s reminded you of your first love or something simple as your favorite tale from Kino's Journey. Has your opinion of it changed now? How so?
  •  Leave a comment below with the link. CommentLuv will most probably detect the link and post it nice and classy so that you don't need to manually paste the URL. Just make sure to enter your blog site clearly while commenting though! I will manually add each link to this post as you write. Yeah, ain't no trackbacks on this shit.
Due to the personal nature of this series, the usual circle-jerking will be cut down and let your readers get an insight beyond the usual Top 10/25/50 anime post. However, there are chances that many share the same favorites, so I'd suggest that you go for the ones that aren't talked about as often. So do your best to steer clear of Cowboy Bebop and Mushishi, the two most beaten-to-death gush posts. Go for the series you want to write about the most, regardless of whether others have already written about them. Each person has a different take on things. Team blogs (wow, I sure am getting ambitious here) can have their members spread their posts over the weekend or you could have each author taking turns.

I know the primary concern for most is "I'm all caught up in the Spring season shizit, so fuck yo project, imma watch my faves when I feel like", but if you think about it, this isn't nearly as time consuming as one would think. You can manage the airing anime as they only take up a couple hours totally on the weekdays. Sparing a couple more on the weekend to watch your favorites seems fair enough a request to make. Those who want productivity and something to blog about while having a good time - this is the TRazor's answer to you. Y'all can even consider this a different/revamped version of the Diary of an Anime Lived project.

I'm not doing this for traffic, because I gave up on that shit a long time ago and to be honest, two months of traffic is not going to help a blog whose days are numbered. Maybe it's my feeble attempt to leave some sort of a mark behind, something bloggers will continue to do even next year. Oh alright, you can stop rolling your eyeballs already, you smirking twat (sorta like my avatar then...)

I genuinely hope as many people as possible participate, starting from the 6th of May. I sure am looking forward to it! Remember, it's as much remembering the anime as it is remembering yourself.
